Microchips For Pets Vital During Cold Weather

It’s said to be a lifesaver for all types of animals but especially for dogs and cats. We’re talking about micro-chipping your pets. According to Nebraska Humane Society this is the perfect time of year to do it.

The reason is their sense of smell can be muted by the cold, making it easier for them to get lost. Pam Weise of the Nebraska Humane Society says it’s a simple process that only takes a couple minutes to get done.

Weiss says, “In the winter time it’s especially a great idea to make sure your animals have microchip identification, so if they do get lost someone can scan them and call the database. They call you and alert you and say hey your dog or cat is at the Nebraska Humane Society.”
