Wilco Shelter Offers Discounts On Older Pets

December 1st, 2008 Posted in Pet Games

The Williamson County Regional Shelter is offering discounted rates for older pet adoptions.

The promotion is aimed to move pets that are usually passed over for younger animals, shelter director Cheryl Schneider said.

There are advantages to adopting an older animal, she said. The mature animals have usually gotten all bad behavior problems out of the way by the time they are 5 years old. They are also usually house trained and much calmer animals.

Schneider said most older animals are in the shelter because a former owner moved and was unable to take the pet with them. Older animals stay in the shelter the longest, she said.

Adoption fees cover basic vaccines, spaying and neutering as well as a microchip for cats and dogs.
