With behavior-fixing drugs ubiquitous in the United States, it was only a matter of time before we started drugging our pets.

The New York Times Magazine goes soup-to-bones on this booming billion-dollar industry, founded on two sea-level cultural changes: a recognition that animals are not mechanistic bundles of instincts but feeling, thinking beings; and a readiness to treat psychological problems with drugs.
