FAT pets are being offered a life line thanks to a new weight watchers scheme for animals.

With 50 per cent of cats and dogs estimated to be clinically obese, Pets at Home on Riverside Retail Park has launched a new weight management centre to offer pet owners the chance to help their animals lose weight.

Pet owners are invited to bring their animals to the centre on Thursday, between 4.30pm and 6pm, for a free consultation with a pet nutrition adviser to assess their wellbeing and to take weight and waistline measurements.

Owners will be given advice on the best route to weight loss for their pet and receive a goal weight and target date with regular progress meetings.
